 FAMILY SOLUTIONS

This self-assessment tool is for you to learn more about yourself and what that means as you get along with friends and family.

Please note. This self-assessment is not a validated instrument but will provide some information about what style is. If you would like an accurate profile and are at least in middle school, you might prefer the computer generated Student Style Analysis which provides study tips and possible careers in addition to your style characteristics.

ALL ABOUT ME - A SELF ASSESSMENT

By Dr. Carol Renaud Gaffney, © 2003

Using the statements below, think about which of the choices is most like you and then circle the answer. You don’t have to think hard, usually your first response is best.

For example, on the first line, think about which is more like you: Plays action games or Plays quietly. If it is "Plays action games," circle the D. If it is "Plays quietly," circle the C. Then do the same thing with each of the lines.

D Plays Action Games   C Plays Quietly
I Fun-loving   S Soft-spoken
C Agreeable   D Seeks to Win
S Pays Attention to Getting Things Done On Time.   I May Run Out of Time When Doing Something.
C Walks Slowly   D Walks Quickly
I Uses Many Hand Movements   S Moves Quietly
D Has Many Opinions   C Asks Questions
S Sefl-Controlled   I Talks With Other People Easily
D Likes To Be In Charge   C Willing To Go Along With Others
I Playful   S Obedient
C Adapt Easily   D Is Willing To Argue
S Serious   I Enthusiastic
D Likes To Start Group Activities   C Likes To Participate Rather Than Lead
I Expresses Feeling Easily   S Keeps Feelings In
Count up how many D answers you circled and then write that number in the space next to the D below. Then add up the I answers, the S answers and the C answers and put them in the space next to their letter.

D_______________ I______________ S_______________ C___________
Total of all the D, I, S, C answers ______________ (This should total 14)

Using the Behavioral Language

Your Style Graph

Write the scores from the front page on the bottom of the graph under each of the lines. Write the D score under the D line, the I score under the I line, the S score under the S line, the C score under the C line.

Now mark your score on its line by making an X. For example, if your score for D is 3, mark an x on the D line opposite the 3 that you see on the right sideof the graph. Please do this for each of the scores.
